Discovery is a collaborative effort between educators, students, their families and our community to provide a supportive environment with high academic expectations for every student while promoting respect for others, open communication, individual responsibility, and a love for learning.

WELCOME TO DISCOVERY!

We are a small public school in the Yakima School District with approximately 222 first through eighth-grade students. Our teachers strive to create classroom environments that challenge students in ways appropriate to their learning abilities and styles.  We encourage multi-age and multi-generational connections throughout the school and within our community.  Parents are always welcome and encouraged to be involved in their child's education.

Discovery Lab Applications are now available to parents who wish to apply for the 2012-2013 school year. Applications that have been completed in prior years will not be considered for enrollment. We have enclosed a new application for your convenience under the "Documents" link to the left.

The priority enrollment application deadline is April 13, 2012. Parents of current Discovery students, who have another child they would like to enroll, must fill out the application form. 

Please note that earlier our Central Registration contacted everyone on the old waiting list that, in some cases spanned several years.  It took hours of staff time, and in most cases, we could not locate the families, or they had changed their minds.  We determined that an annual application process would work best.
