Character trait for March is  Tolerance

Tolerance-Tolerance is being able to accept things that you wish were different.  When you practice tolerance, you have flexibility.  You don't expect others to be just like you.

« Am open to differences

« Am free of prejudice

« Don't complain when uncomfortable conditions can't be helped

« Respect others opinions when they differ from mine

« Forgive others instead of holding a grudge

« Overlook people's faults

« Focus on changing myself, not others

    Message From the Principal

I am Victor Nourani, the new Principal at Lewis & Clark, and I look forward to meeting all of you.  I was formerly the Principal at Stanton Academy for three years.  I believe school is an extension of the student's home, and I encourage parents/guardians and families to partner with the school in an effort to accelerate student learning.

We are fortunate to have Mrs. Coe continue as Vice Principal, and, in addition, we welcome Mr. Garza as our new Vice Principal from Wilson Middle School.

Goal 1 -Read with comprehension, write with skill, and communicate effectively and responsibly in a variety of ways and settings.

Goal 2 -Know and apply the core concepts and principles of mathematics:  social, physical, and life sciences; civics and history; geography; arts; and health and fitness.

Goal 3 -Think analytically, logically, and creatively, and to integrate experience and knowledge to form reasoned judgments and solve problems.

Goal 4 -Understand the importance of work and how performance, effort, and decisions directly affect future career and educational opportunities.

The Yakima School District "student accountability" plan has been implemented.  What this means for students is the  possibility of the students not being promoted to the next grade level unless they are  passing their core academic classes.  Students have to demonstrate the skills necessary to be successful at the next grade level.

We are continuing a school family and community partnership to maintain a safe, civil, healthy and intellectually stimulating learning environment to insure student achievement.  Enclosed is a copy of the STARR rules that support our "Blazer Steps to Success."  Please take a few minutes to go over these with your son/daughter.

There will be an athletic parent/student informational meeting on Tuesday, September 2nd at 6:30 p.m. in the Lewis and Clark commons.

We are here to work with you and your children, and we are looking forward to this school year.  If you have any questions or need assistance please come by the school or give me a call at 573-2201.

  Victor Nourani, Principal
