High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) Summer Retakes

Dear Parents/Guardians,  

 

I would like to share some important news about your child's results from spring 2010 state testing. The individual score report accompanying this letter shows that your child's progress pertaining to the High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE).

 

For the graduating classes of 2010-2012, students must pass the high school reading and writingexams, a state-approved alternative to the HSPE or an assessment for students in special education. Students can meet the state's math requirement by:

 

  • Passing the math HSPE, a state-approved alternative or an assessment for students in special education, OR
  • Earning two credits of math AFTER 10thgrade (Students need to take the HSPE at least once before this option is available)

Students who pass the reading, writing and math exams earn a Certificate of Academic Achievement or Certificate of Individual Achievement. Students who fulfill the math requirement by earning math credits do not receive a certificate, but are eligible for a diploma if they meet all other state and local requirements.  

 

If you have immediate concerns about your child's test scores or graduation status, please call the Eisenhower High School Counseling Dept. Below is information about  an opportunity available to help your child:

  • August 2010 HSPE  - Students who did not pass one or more of the HSPEs can take that test for free from Aug. 9-12 at [insert information about the location chosen by district]. Students must register for the August HSPE between June 1-18 at www.k12.wa.us/testregistration   or by calling 866-400-9275 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Please have your child's State Student Identification (SSID) number, located on the front of the HSPE Score Report, available when registering.

Eisenhower Freshmen Cadet Academy

Meet daily in Eisenhower's Gym

All incoming freshmen need to attend the academy, which will

provide each student the opportunity to achieve success during

their high school career.

Bus transportation will be provided by the Yakima Transit System.

A pass will be mailed to you at the beginning of August.
