The students just exited the building to go on spring break vacation. It is nice to have some time off and we all deserve it. I never thought that after the first 7 months of this school year that there would be so many good things to report to you. We had our mid year reading test results last month. We were so pleased that our Kindergarten had the highest scores in the school district out of 14 schools. Our second grade had the greatest improvement in the district. We are very proud of our students and staff. As you well know our school implemented a new school-wide discipline plan this year. The staff has been very pleased with the students' behavior improvements. Our discipline data is showing that we have cut the number of student suspensions for poor choices in half. At our student achievement assembly we recognized 170 students that had perfect attendance for the month of March. These are just a few highlights in what is turning out to be a great year at McKinley. A parent meeting will be held during the month of April to provide parents with information regarding our school improvement plan. We will send home a note to let you know when it has been scheduled. Thank you, Lee Maras

Word of the Month

Patience

Patience is quiet hope and expectation based on trust that in the end, everything will be all right. Patience means waiting.

Yearbooks: We are in the process of creating the 2010 yearbooks. We will do presales in late May and hand them out the last week of school. Prices have not yet been determined. Fliers will be sent home in May.
